You might ask "what is a white label app? How does it affect me and why should I care if I’ll never design or develop one?" We will show you tips and tricks to designing and developing white-labelled apps that can be applied to all varieties of projects and make your life easier, whether you're a designer or a developer. The talk will cover reusability, abstractions, power-user tools and more!
This talk will be about the various challenges in (and experiences from) designing and developing white label applications. Whilst it's something you might not get to do very often, a lot of practices within white labelling can save you time in the process of making a non-white label application. The talk will start from a designer perspective, with information ranging from what design features can have a big impact on the development time to how you can best optimise your work and make the right design decisions. Following this, I will discuss what tools and approaches simplify communication and handover between designers and developers. I will then move onto the developer perspective, with focus on general concepts and ideas behind development and apps that will be white-labelled (which are platform agnostic). I will also focus on specific issues on iOS & Android to highlight the platform differences. The talk will include real life case studies, with visuals and details from apps that we have designed and developed.
